ENB6: Language Development

This paper is similar to ENB2, in that there are bodies of information you'll need to know about (researchers like Chomsky) and how this is reflected in the analysis of the passages you are presented with.

There are two parts to the paper, each with two questions, though you only answer one per section:

  1. Language Acquisition - how children acquire language.
  2. Language Change - how language has changed over time.

ENB6 is the "synoptic" paper of English Language, which means if you've survived this far, you'll need all the skills you've acquired over the years. ENB2 - IT - for example, is particularly useful in Language Change.

It's a two hour exam, so you'll be writing two one hour essays...
