There's no escaping poetry in your English exam - it comes up in both exams. There may be a lot of poems to revise, but don't panic. Like with all subjects, if you revise enough you'll just sail through them.

Because different schools choose to study different poems, only a selection will appear here.

Language poems are the Other Cultures set. There are two questions on poetry in Paper 2, but you'll only have to answer one. The exam will name one poem and ask to you compare it to another.

Literature poems are the Pre-1914 and Post-1914 set. The exam will either:

  • Ask you to compare four poems OR
  • Ask you to compare two poems and then another two poems.

Which ever you choose, make sure you mention four poems in total, or you'll be losing a load of marks!
